What classical means here

At Meadow View Learning, classical education starts with real books. Children read whole books, write by hand and talk about what they read. Reading, writing, grammar and spelling are part of every day, so a child learns to build a clear sentence and then a clear paragraph.

Koine Greek runs Monday through Thursday. Students build Greek vocabulary and roots alongside their English vocabulary and grammar, and older students work toward reading simple Greek text.

History and geography are taught with maps, timelines and real books. Discussion is part of the work: children explain what they have read, ask questions and listen to each other.

Younger students begin with Montessori materials they can hold and move. As they grow, the work becomes more classical. Each child follows an individual learning plan within a set scope and sequence, so they move ahead when they are ready and get help when they need it.

Faith and character

Mornings open with prayer, led by the students from written cards, and with the virtue of the week. Faith comes up the way it does in a Christian home: in conversation, in how children treat each other, and in how mistakes are handled. Families from many church backgrounds are part of the community.
